With rooftop views of the Torre Latinoamericano and other iconic monuments, surrounded by sounds of beating drums and the bustling zócalo, lives a new boutique hotel gem, Círculo Mexicano. Set inside of a historic building housing other popular names, this hotel boasts minimalism, seclusion, and peace, contrary to what one may expect upon entering the historic district through the crowded and narrow streets.

Have your ride drop you here: to be frank, that's the closest a vehicle will take you on this pedestrian street, and make your way to the entrance where you'll see one of the sisters restaurant of the famous Contramar, Itacate. Make your way to the back, unless friendly faces or a door person beats you to it.

Grupo Habita's properties are known for their rooftops, but this one is special. With their own in-house restaurant, Comedor Mexicano by Chef Enid Velez, visitors are treated to a menu of traditional and seasonal Mexican cuisine, with beautiful plating and delicious breakfast, snacks, and drinks. One of the many appeals is their open comal.

The hotel has three different suites and three various room categories giving the traveler various options for whatever brings them to the city: work, play, or as always, a combination of the two. The rooms take inspiration from the Shaker-style of design, highlighting versatile and minimal woodwork and craftsmanship. However, the rooms are far from uninteresting. When paired with high-quality Mexican textiles, stunning skylights, rain showers, and high-quality bath products,  guests will feel the true sentiment of "less is more".

What was once a 19th-century residential building has become a redefined modern gathering place on the first floor. I personally spent a lot of time here chatting with other travelers and conversing about various waterholes in the city with the bartenders at Caracol del Mar. To be able to quickly head up to my room for a call or even to the rooftop after a long day of errands made this hotel an unexpected and favorite choice of hotel in Mexico City, a place where good options are quiet unlimited.
